A little about the games. In general, I consider the series to be my favorite, and not because it's horror, but because it's generally one of the highest quality game series in history. The world itself and the characters. Yes, there were blunders. For example, with the online versions or with part 6, but I think it's quite good. So many parts have come out that you can choose for every taste.
Either you are old, or you love action or indoor horror or forest. The abode will give everything. I played all the numbered parts and went through many of them. I went through and played in spin-offs, and now I'm waiting for the remake of Veronica, and it won't be long to wait for it. And what about the movie?

Resident Evil (2002-2016)
Once upon a time, the first film adaptation was supposed to be shot by Romero himself. A documentary is dedicated to this. I highly recommend it.
But it so happened in the end that we will get to a full-fledged film adaptation only once. Paul W. Anderson went his own way, this is not a film adaptation, but a very close in spirit to the series. A mysterious beginning, an unknown girl, special forces and a hive. Oh yes, before that there is a beginning, where they show the beginning of the infection, for me it is superfluous and spoils the atmosphere.
The concept itself is the same as in the game, a group of people and soldiers. A powerful heroine (even 2). As well as confined spaces and, of course, zombies. The zombies themselves are just beautiful, alive, if you can call them that. The funniest thing is that the director does not spare the characters, unlike others, but mows them down in a cool scene with lasers, they did not even die from zombies.
The soundtrack is really powerful, especially for the final scene and for Marilee Manson. That is, he is a composer here, if anything. James Cameron said that he watches the movie once a year. As a child, I watched the film many times, I understand that it is a little outdated. But... more on that at the end.
7.3/10

Despite the fact that I wanted to briefly discuss the series of Anderson's films, I also like the 2nd part, it was not shot by him, it was filmed by a Chilean director that will then disappear from the radar.
And the 2nd part at the beginning says - this is Resident Evil. A terribly frightening scene where a girl escapes from a crowd of zombies and tragically dies. A lot of gloom and even more horror. Even Ellis is more on the 2nd plan, and on the main ... Jill Valentine with a vibe of 3 parts and a costume. God, what an actress on her...
The film shoves more characters, although this is not a plus. But it has become even scarier. More like Romerovsky. A zombie cemetery and a school where zombie children are. Where can I see this? God, they even brought Stars from 3, although he is a stupidly slow tank, but still cool.
7.0/10

About the rest briefly:
Part 3 is the least favorite. The leak of characters, the disappearance of others and the vibe of Mad Max, which is of course a plus, but very strange. Ellis is a log here.
6.2/10
Part 4 again has a different tone, Anderson just shits on some moments, but added a miscast on the main characters of the series. The film is more focused on action, if you turn off your brain, then you can enjoy it.
6.3/10
Part 5 is the worst. A bunch of locations, trash with clones and Leon. On the plus side, action. The rest is nonsense.
5.5/10
The finale with the vibe of the 3rd part went to me up to 7 points, after a while I changed it, thank God. Although the film is really better than the 5th part, the action still drags. But they returned the fanservice, took the main Persians somewhere and made a twist in the finale. For partial effort, it was rated higher.
6.4/10

In the same way, briefly about a series of films and a series in the animation genre, which seem to be part of a series of games, or rather about the events between events.
Degeneration (2008)
Animation is outdated and made like all parts of the talk for fans. Looking out of context, I wouldn't. In short, about the plot: Leon and Claire save the airport. There are also super zombies and zombies. Horror and action will be delivered.
7.0/10
The Curse (2012)
Are Leon and Ada in Europe saving the president? Weaker than the previous part, but the animation is better. Like the rest, it is quite watchable for fans.
7.0/10
Vendetta (2017)
Leon, Rebecca and Chris vs. the scientist. The best action part. Especially where Leon smashes zombies in sports shoes. But the plot is very simple.
6.5/10
Infinite Darkness (2021)
A mini-series about horror in the White House. Interestingly, this is now horror, and there is less action. But, unfortunately, the dullest part among the animation.
6.2/10
Island of Death (2024)
A collab of characters against 1 villain. Where else can you see Jill, Leon, Chris, Claire, Rebecca together in the same frame? Unfortunately, the most meme part. Yes, I put an inflated 7, but for being epic. But everyone scolded me for taking great care of the characters and we will see a good ending again.
6.8/10

Oh yes, there was a series in between in 22. It's also worth saying briefly. It's shit.
In fact, there was potential, it's just not Resident Evil, but a melodrama about girls and an afro - Wesker. Unfortunately, it's presented badly. And it would be better to make a film adaptation...
4.2/10

Speaking of her. In 2021, a real film adaptation was released. At one time, I was looking forward to it very much, although I understood that it would be weak from the trailers. As a result, the series was immediately closed. The box office is weak, and dreams are shattered.
Is everything so bad?
You will be shocked, but I liked it. I'm not the only one, but there are still disadvantages. First, about them.
God, why is there a miscast. For some reason, Leon looks like Carlos, Jill is tanned, and instead of cool zombies - dogs ... Graphon, and he is very weak in places and not needed. The final boss is especially famous for this. In places, and horror moments are poorly presented. As one reviewer correctly said - What's the point of a zombie scene that turns your head if we've already seen them before?
Well, and accordingly, the pluses. Not all the cast is bad. Chris and Wesker and Ada's cameo are just good. As well as Birkin. Claire is cute to me, although also not quite the same. The action is good in places. But I especially like how the film is made with love, director Johann got a chance and he used it, The budget for the film adaptation of 2 parts immediately went for 25 lams, Kregger has a 65 budget.
I watched the film many times and as a result, I enjoyed it even after 3. Strangely, the vibe of cheapness suits him, once the vibe of the 1st and 2nd parts of the series was built on that. If there was a budget...
6.4/10
Shock, I'm just changing my ratings with the posts now.

Okay, let's talk about the best film adaptation (remember but...). Kragger hyped with the Gun. There is even an Oscar. He is a fan of the series and it is (not) visible.
Ok, I will divide into 2 opinions about the film, although I will evaluate the movie positively, but not as high as many. There is something to bomb for.
Positive:
This is an opinion based on the film as a Kregger attraction based on the game. Not a hero, a simple guy, a delivery task and obstacles. We kind of follow the NPC who is both dumb hard and scared. The atmosphere is extremely horror. Devastation, zombies and mutations. Zombie dogs and some kind of mass crossed from zombies.
All this gives almost no respite, the current is where the typewriter that is here. Butler played the character well, it's a pity that in the finale he was stupidly leaked. Yes, for me, the ending is dumb and abrupt, and even there the budget probably ran out. Although the film doesn't seem to go on for so long.
The film is for the first parts of the game, where you could accidentally learn the adventures of a random person in the game, and it would be cool if I were not a fumbling person.
Negative:
God, what's that? Why couldn't you shoot a film adaptation in the same style for such a budget? You'll shoot it anyway, right? You've seen what you can, right? Why is there humor? Why is the character almost empty?
First things first. I don't like that the character here is so dumb, he doesn't know how to reload the weapon? Let me remind you that in the spin-off there were left-wing people too, but they were not stupid, they were shooting. The man couldn't hit the castle? Hah, humor. Wait, fat man and rats are zombies? I'll hit everyone. What kind of nonsense?
Why does the film have such a plot? I realized that this is like an event somewhere nearby, but why do the characters have iPhones there? Oh yes, the hero. There are a couple of scenes where he talks to his wife, there is an infection because of the child, ok, there is, as well as a small - weak disclosure. But why should I worry about the hero? He will die. Yes, there is a chance that he will be saved, because then they say that there is important property for the vaccine.
But this is a horror, the character is empty and this is an adaptation of the game. That is, knowing the time of the event, you know the ending, the logic? Although it is not with the scientists who let the chela in and did not even check if he was infected? And he himself, by the way, could hardly walk up the stairs. Well, humor. By the way, the humor is just superfluous in places, in games it is when it is needed, here it is just too often and stupid.
Oh yes, this is Resident Evil. Did you like the movie, fans? Then tell me, where the hell are the zombies here? Why are they almost not here? If anything, I'm talking about canonical and not left-wing mutants. There are literally 3 moments with them, and 2 of them last a couple of seconds. Yes, the beginning is the only time we will enjoy zombies.
By the way, there is also a pursuer here, as in the first 3 parts. And he is just 0. He is not shocking, not frightening, but generally inappropriate in places.
Conclusion:
As a film separately, you can advise fans by. But... I think that the best picture is 1 from Anderson.
7,3\10

Bonus
A short film with Monroe was released for the advertising of part 9 this year. Mother and daughter, also the events between the first parts and the tragic ending and emotions I experienced more than from the whole Kregger film (I exaggerated a little). It would be better. But there is...
Riggs (The Walking Dead), surprised us with the role of a horror version of Spider-Man, but also shot a mini-film adaptation of the 7th part with his own money. So carefully and exactly like Kragger, an attraction, but now for fans and better (now he did not exaggerate)
