Attitudes towards anime in different religions

A post about anime from me - I think it sounds fun;)

I guess I won't have to explain what anime is. In this post, I want to consider a slightly peculiar question - what do representatives of various religions think about anime? There are no polytheistic religions (including Shinto) in the post.

Both the opinions of the clergy and ordinary believers will be taken. I think it will be interesting.

I wanted to insert an icon in anime style, but for this in the "best country in the world" they can attract.

Orthodoxy

The attitude of the Orthodox towards anime, in many ways, depends on how conservative and orthodox they are.

So, ardent zealots of Orthodoxy very often give out something like this. And in general, conservative Orthodox are extremely negative about anime for several reasons at once.
The first is the dislike of everything "not Orthodox", which means, in their opinion, heretical.
The second is the stereotypical idea of anime as something exceptionally obscene and depraved.

To sum up, the logic of many Orthodox believers boils down to the following: "here the youth will see enough anime that is alien to us, and there is cruelty, then they will go into the dark forest and start killing."
And I'm not even being ironic, there really are such people. But this is a typical feature of many of our citizens - the fear of something previously unknown to them.

The situation is different with the so-called "progressive Orthodox" (or just not so crazy fanatics). They, in turn, believe that watching anime is acceptable with some exceptions. For example, they are still against hentai and works where same-sex love is shown. However, compared to the Orthodox Orthodox, this is already something. Although, unfortunately, there are more such conservatives in our country.

Religion and anime should be approached very carefully so as not to offend anyone's "feelings". Therefore, here is just an Orthodox priest for you.

Catholicism and Protestantism

To tell the truth, I found almost no information about Catholics. But, I believe, there is the same principle as that of the Orthodox - conservative Catholics are categorically against, and more liberal Ones are in favor, with some exceptions.

The situation with Protestants is slightly different. Since they are not united and are divided into many different currents, then the situation must be looked at relative to their "flow".

For example, the same Amish are forbidden to watch not only anime, but also anything else, since they cannot use communications and mains electricity, and they have nowhere to watch anything.
The situation is about the same with other radical conservative movements in Protestantism, for example, anime (like any other non-religious products) is banned by Jehovah's Witnesses.

Some Amish are forbidden to even have refrigerators, where is modern media culture?

Muslims

The situation with Muslims is already clearer and simpler - the clergy forbids them to watch anime. This is due to several reasons.
Firstly, in the anime there are images of girls and women in "unacceptable" clothes (without hijab, with exposed areas of the body). This is serious for Muslims.
Secondly, there is music in anime. Muslims are forbidden to listen to any non-religious music, as it distracts from thoughts about Allah.
Thirdly, there are examples of same-sex love in anime, and Muslims treat this worse than even the most orthodox Christians.

Of course, there are several movements in Islam that do not follow part of these rules, and which, most likely, can be watched anime, but there are very few of them against the background of adherents of the dogmas of Islam.

Maybe I'll even make a post about all the strange and unusual rules in Islam.

Maybe I'll even make a post about all the strange and unusual rules in Islam.

Judaism

For Jews, there is one basic rule - do not watch anything pornographic, this also applies to anime.

Opinions on the display of same-sex relationships are radically different. Some consider this acceptable, and some consider it unacceptable.

Well, all this does not apply to Hasidim, an extremely conservative trend in Judaism. They are forbidden to have a TV, and the same computers are allowed to use only for work.

Many "stereotypical Jews" are Hasidim.

* * *

So we have considered the main world religions.
The main thing to remember is one thing. All of the above are just religious dogmas, many of which have long been outdated. Therefore, it's up to you to decide what to watch or not to watch;)

I hope you enjoyed it!

Why is religion important?

Recently, it has been customary in society to criticize theological worldviews and religion in general. It is logical, we live in the era of postmodernism, "God is dead", etc.

However, it seems to me that religion is much more important than many people think. Today I will try to describe the advantages of religion for our society. Of course, I do not advocate theocracy or anything like that, but it is impossible not to touch on this topic.

I. Hope

A human being is a creature that needs support. In its absence, the individual may be squeezed, marginalized and his problems will worsen.

When a series of problems comes, a person needs to calm down. He needs to somehow ease his fear of the unknown. And it is at such moments that people begin to believe in God. Severe illness, life difficulties, fear of a vague and vague future. Human nature, experiencing such stress, tends to get away from it, switch to something that will comfort him.

Religion is exactly such a "comforter". She calms even those who can no longer be helped, giving them hope for an afterlife. Maybe this is self-deception, but it lightens the already heavy burden on the shoulders of unhappy people.

If life's obstacles are overcome, the fire that religion ignites in people's hearts can encourage them to help those in need and comfort them themselves.

Why is religion important?

II. Charity

The second point follows smoothly from the previous one.

Almost any religion preaches mercy, compassion, and love for one's neighbor. Therefore, a lot of sincerely believing people create charitable societies and organizations that help those in need.

Rehabilitation centers for addicts, humanitarian aid centers, almshouses, projects to help the disabled, orphanages - these and much more are created by believers with sincere altruistic motives.

And sometimes, in conditions of abandonment by both the state and almost the rest of society, religious organizations are the only salvation for those in need.

Why is religion important?

III. A moral guideline

I do not dispute that some dogmas and rules of some religions may seem outdated and even stupid. But in the vast majority, the norms that certain religions preach are quite correct.

Do not kill, do not steal, do not give false testimony, etc. Of course, excessive dogmatism is very often harmful, but in an acceptable amount, these norms are extremely clear moral guidelines.

And combining the previous theses, even for many serious crimes there is forgiveness. It can also calm a person down and put them on the right path.

Why is religion important?

IV. Cultural development

Religion undoubtedly contributed to a certain growth of cultural "baggage". The development of architectural styles, sculpture, painting. Influence on literature and theater. Moreover, everything is limited not only to morality or mysteries, but also quite exciting plots.

Even modern art can sometimes borrow classical religious subjects. And all this is a symbol of the influence of religion on human life.

Why is religion important?

V. The development of science

And today we will finish with an equally important point - the development of education and science.

Yes, although the church often spoke from orthodox and conservative positions, but at the initial stage it was her merit that many examples of scientific progress were. Monks are scientists, priests are chroniclers, healers at monasteries, schools at churches.

All of this has undoubtedly been a huge success. And it allowed the world science to develop in the future.

Why is religion important?

In the afterword, I note that religion, like any other thing in this world, has its disadvantages. There are also very zealous fanatics who distort the idea of faith. However, it is also not worth denying its advantages.

Peace be upon your home.

The Commandments of Pikuko

May the lines of code bless you, stranded user soul.

A mysterious presence reached my thoughts and declared its immutable will. It has chosen me to be its preacher on this scorched web-land. You shall follow these eternal laws, so that your path may be light and easy.

* * *

The Commandments of Pikuko

1. Don't be a buzzkill, for the actions of others about you are a reflection of yourself.

Introduce yourself to people with a open mind, discover other people's content with a gentle heart, and look at other people's ideas with a flexible mind. It's not all bad if your expectations aren't met. Look for the root of frustration in yourself first.

2. You shall not make for yourself an idol

You will not lead someone else's path with your own feet, nor will you meet someone else's footprints on your own path. Therefore, we must each follow our own path to our own trophies. Seek not glory, but the peace and tranquility of merging with this infinite eternal.

The Commandments of Pikuko

3. Do not judge, so that you will not be judged

Be tolerant and temper, since you were not asked to review someone else's work. And if you feel that you are unable to keep silent, light up your statement with constructiveness, guide the one who has strayed on the path of truth, give hope for improvement, and let a ray of light pierce your karma. And what causes anger in your soul, ignore it, for it will vanish without your intervention.

4. Don't blind your eyes with numbers

Numbers may darken your mind, but chasing them is nothing but a race against the void of your mind. Don't chase them, rest your ambition, trust your feeling. It's the ones with passion that gain wings. And the ones with lust for being that guy with more numbers on counter gains chicken wings as their only option.

The Commandments of Pikuko

5. Steal like an artist

Don't take what's not belonging to you, don't give what's yours. Seek inspiration, not a template. Don't be a copycat if you can share your own thoughts and creativity. There are no questions for the tests in the Animation category.

6. What you sow, you will reap

The one who shines is the one who is bright. Have the strength to carry a good word with you, and receive it with gratitude. Find a glimmer in the most evil soul to lighten the darkness. Kill them with kindness.

The Commandments of Pikuko

7. Turn mistakes into a lesson

Forgive the mistakes of others, but have the courage to admit your own. Those who acknowledge are strong, those who deny are poor. If you see a block in your road, throw it away, so that it may be free and lead you forward to achieve your goals, and not to the title of the greatest fool.

8. Don't let the anger grow through you

Anger ends where you stand. As long as your will restrains it, it won't harm anyone. It takes no effort to sow hate; the power is in the one who can curb it. Indeed, whoever first drops a word is the one who's responsible.

9. Deny useless hype

You were born unique. Not to become an echo of what someone once said and another once approved. Do what you want. Do what you like. Do what you have to do and let it be.
