My things

yop

My top 10 anime & manga

First of all, please excuse my English because it is not one of my native languages.

Special mention to Link Click (airing) & 86 (airing) - maybe they change the top.

10. Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (full saga)

My top 10 anime & manga

If we're talking about parallel timelines and worlds, this anime has to be mentioned. It's very interesting to see the stories from different points of view and, as a viewer, gradually learn the motivations behind the characters.

The order to view it, if you're interested, is as follows:
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Rei [only chapters 2, 3 & 4]
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Gou [It started as a remake, but it's a sequel from chapter 2 onwards]
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sotsu.

9. Monster

The way Naoki Urasawa tells the story of Monster is something I haven't seen in a long time. He has other good works like 20th Century Boys, but, for me, Monster is the pinnacle of his art.
Character development is something I greatly value and appreciate when it's done well and even the secondary characters shine because of how well they're written.

8. Kasane

seinen

In a world where beauty is everything, what would happen if it could be stoled from you? Would you lose your identity?

It's an incredible story with a lot of criticism of beauty. From both sides; being beautiful & being ugly. To this day, I haven't seen anything quite like it.

7. Berserk (depends on the ending)

seinen

Berserk is an incredible manga that will never get the anime adaptation it deserves because Kentaro Miura's (RIP) art can't be captured in anime.

It's a heartbreaking story, and I have my reservations as a woman and because of how some scenes were done, but Guts made me feel, made me suffer, and he's a character I adore and need to see happy.

6. Frieren (depends on the ending)

shonen

Because that's what Ms. Frieren would do

I've rarely felt like I was traveling alongside the characters. Frieren is, quite literally, a journey. Losing someone or something you love and still finding beauty in the things that remind you of them.

5. Madoka Magica (depends on the ending)

seinen

Do you want to fulfill their wish, or do you want to be the person who fulfills their wish?

I'm constantly amazed by the details of this series and the movies. I love how it enters the world of magical girls and tears it apart from within.
It's a must-see.

4. Attack on Titan

What a great anime, what a great story, and what a great pace—not a single episode is boring. Incredibly innovative with powerful lessons about the cycle of hate.

3. Death Note

Justice prevails.

No matter how many years pass, nothing can erase what Death Note was and what it did.
PD: Naomi deserved better.

2. One Piece

shonen

You might be alone at the moment... But someday... You'll definitely find friends! No one is born in this world to be alone!

The best-told story.
The anime with the best world-building; your favorite character might not even be one of the main ones.

There will never be a better shonen anime for me. I've been watching One Piece since I was little, and it's been with me my whole life.
I'll never be ready to see them achieve their dreams and go their separate ways.

1. Utena

shojo

shojo

In a world where men are princes who save and women are princesses who are saved, can one princess save another princess? And what if you want to save the witch herself?

There will never be another series that critiques absolutely every foundation of society the way Utena did.
As a child, it had a huge impact on me, but I wasn't able to grasp everything the anime teaches us. Its ending is still debated.
It is undoubtedly a masterpiece.

How Anime Became Globally Popular?

Anime, a distinct style of animation originating from Japan, has captivated audiences worldwide, transcending cultural and geographical boundaries. Its rise to global prominence can be traced back to the late 20th century, characterized by pioneering works such as "Akira" and "Dragon Ball Z," which introduced international viewers to unique storytelling and artistic expression.

The internet played a pivotal role in this phenomenon, facilitating the spread of anime through streaming platforms, fan subbing, and social media. The accessibility of content allowed enthusiasts to share their passion, creating vibrant online communities that fostered discussions and fan creations.

Moreover, the diverse genres within anime—from action and romance to psychological thrillers—have broadened its appeal, attracting a range of demographics. Cultural exports, like "My Hero Academia" and "Attack on Titan," further solidified anime’s status on the global stage, influencing not only fans but also creators in various industries.

Thus, anime’s unique fusion of culture, creativity, and community has woven it into the fabric of global entertainment, marking its undeniable and ever-expanding influence.

As anime gained traction, major conventions emerged worldwide, bringing together fans and creators alike. Events like Anime Expo and Comic-Con have become cultural hubs where attendees celebrate their favorite series, participate in cosplay, and attend panels featuring industry professionals. These gatherings foster a sense of belonging and community that transcends borders, uniting individuals over shared interests in characters and stories.

The collaboration between Western media and Japanese creators has also contributed to anime's popularity. Projects such as Netflix's “Castlevania” and the anticipated adaptation of “Cowboy Bebop” have introduced anime aesthetics to broader audiences, while simultaneously inspiring new narratives in Western animation. This cross-pollination has further bridged the gap between cultures, encouraging new fans to explore original Japanese works.

Furthermore, the successful integration of anime into mainstream media, evidenced by awards and recognition, validates its artistic merit. Films like “Spirited Away,” which won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, showcase anime's ability to resonate deeply with diverse audiences, emphasizing the universal themes often found within the medium. The future of anime appears bright as it continuously evolves and expands its global footprint.
