10 interesting facts about the Attack on Titans

Attention! THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS POST, IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE ANIME YET, THEN I RECOMMEND READING ONLY THOSE FACTS THAT WILL NOT BE MARKED WITH A SPOILER.

Today I will tell you a few facts about the Attack. The kettlebell forest!

* * *

Fact 1. The nationality of the characters

10 interesting facts about the Attack on Titans

The events of the Titan Attack unfold in an alternate world in which our countries and nationalities have never been present.
Most of the main characters are Eldians. They are the only representatives of humanity capable of turning into titans and dominated the world.
However, despite this, there is a connection with the real world in the names and surnames of the characters. For example, a girl with the surname Akkerman lives in Finland. She broadcasts on Gwent, and she can also be seen among the casters of official tournaments for this game.

Annie Leonhart, despite her last name, is called Russian by fans. They made this conclusion based on the Slavic appearance of the heroine. Besides, Annie is Mr. Leonhart's adopted daughter, so the last name does not relate to her ancestry in any way. Elena is also attributed to the number of Russian characters, but with her everything is more obvious.

The British were attributed toErwin Smith,Armin Arlert, the Grice family, represented by Colt and Falco, Flock Foster, Peak Finger, etc...

If you're interested, you can find dozens of similar collections on the Internet with all the characters of Attack of the Titans. I don't see much point in continuing, so let's move on to the next fact.

SPOILER ALERT!

Fact 2. It took four months to create to animate Levi's fight against the Titan Beast

10 interesting facts about the Attack on Titans

Arifumi Imai is the animator in charge of Levi's fight against The Beast of Titan, among many other scenes. He reported that it took him four whole months to bring this scene to life. One month was spent on the storyboard, while the animation itself took three months.

Fact 3.

10 interesting facts about the Attack on Titans

When Hajime Isayama was just developing the concept of Attack on the Titans, he worked part-time at the net cafe. The people he met there served as a source of inspiration for some of his characters. InHe told the Encyclopedia of Attack of the Titans characters that he modeled the design of Mikasa's character with one of the cafe's visitors - in particular, with her scarf, hairstyle and eyes.

Fact 4. Weapons

10 interesting facts about the Attack on Titans

Not only the UPM plays a huge role in the fight against giants, but also the swords that the characters use. The soldiers' weapons are made of special heavy-duty steel, the production of which requires the use of blast furnaces.
These swords are great for fighting giants, easily cutting through their flesh. Any other weapon does almost no damage to the giants.

Fact 5. The Secret of Hanji Zoe

10 interesting facts about the Attack on Titans

Despite the fact that Hanji is undoubtedly a woman in the anime, in the manga, at the initiative of its author Hajime Isayama, there is intentionally no indication of Hanji's gender. So, it's up to the reader to decide how he perceives Hanji.

Fact 6. How did the giants appear?

10 interesting facts about the Attack on Titans

The very idea of giants came to Isayama when he was trying to overcome a drunken visitor to an Internet cafe where he himself once worked. He was inspired by the gentleman's inability to communicate with the people around him.
He decided to bring the situation to the point of absurdity, adding to the insane state of gigantic height, crooked proportions and a frightening facial expression.

SPOILER ALERT!

Fact 7. Spoiler from the creators

10 interesting facts about the Attack on Titans

In the second opening of season 3, the creators hid a hint about the fate of one of the main characters. Almost at the very end of the screensaver, we see the face of a Colossal titan, which is quickly replaced by a newly awakened Armin.
But the most interesting thing here is that for a short moment the image of a burned-out Armin appears in the frame, who sacrificed himself for the sake of victory over the Colossal.

Fact 8. Somehow there are few deaths...

10 interesting facts about the Attack on Titans

Initially, Hajime was going to kill all the heroes, with rare exceptions. But I came to my senses: the anime suddenly turned out to be cool, the manga became a hit, and it would be stupid to end the story tragically in light of all this.

Fact 9. What's wrong with the name?

The literal translation of the original title, Shingeki No Kyojin, is Progressive Giants, and it sounds ridiculous. As a result, the official international name was chosen by Hajime Isayama himself — Attack on Titan. And although it is not so much the Titans who attack as the Titans themselves, this option is still many times better.

SPOILER ALERT!

Fact 10. Another ending

10 interesting facts about the Attack on Titans

One of the reasons why the finale of Attack of the Titans was so successful is that the creator of the series was able to make important changes to the script. In the original manga, Armin thanks Eren for turning into a monster to try to help the people of Paradise Island. This makes it clear that Eren was a martyr who did the right thing. That's not what Isayama wanted to emphasize, so he changed it in the anime. In the new version, Armin shows Eren love and understanding, but still holds him responsible for his actions and tells him that he will see him in hell.
