Smart feed

29.04.2025
Hello, dear Friends!

It’s been five whole weeks since the last update, and that’s because the task we undertook turned out to be more difficult than we initially expected.

Let’s start with a bit of background: as our community grows, so does the amount of content we have. However, the screen size of a smartphone or computer doesn’t grow with it — making it harder to display all the tests you might be interested in. In a general feed filled with an enormous number of tests, the ones that truly match your interests can easily get lost. So, what can we do?

We need a recommendation algorithm to build a feed based on your personal interests. Nothing revolutionary here — that's how YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other market leaders work. However, if we blindly follow their path, we run into another problem: the lack of transparency in recommendation systems and the so-called echo chamber effect (watch one video about dumplings, and suddenly your entire feed is full of dumpling recipes).

A simple tag-based feed comes to mind, but that would be too boring and wouldn’t give you the excitement of seeing fresh and different content every time you refresh the page.

Based on these reflections, we’ve developed a fundamentally new algorithm and are excited to introduce it to you. Please welcome:

The Smart Feed!

Let’s go through what new settings and features the Smart Feed offers:

  • Display of erotic and explicit content in your feeds and on the site’s homepage;
  • Option to hide tests you have already completed from your feed;
  • Smart Feed:
    • Can work on the "Tests" page under any tab and works alongside filters and search by title;
    • Filters content based on tags you are interested in. During initial setup, it will analyze your completed tests and add the most frequent tags to your interests list;
    • The list of your interests can be updated automatically as you complete new tests, but you can always edit it manually;
    • In addition to tags, you can prioritize content created by authors you follow;
    • Content from authors you've blocked will not appear. You can also choose to hide content from authors who have blocked you;
    • You can customize in which tabs (Interesting/New/Best/Underrated) the Smart Feed will be active, and in which tabs the old algorithm will still be used;
    • The "Interesting" tab, with the Smart Feed enabled, will show you the highest-quality works that match your interests, while ensuring each feed refresh is unique (the list will change each time you reload the page). The ranking takes into account the test's rating, its relevance to your interests, whether you follow the author, and its freshness.
Thus, by setting up the Smart Feed, you’ll be able to discover more content that matches your tastes without getting distracted by things you’re not interested in!

Additionally, it’s great news for authors too — your works will now be shown to users who are genuinely interested in them, helping you get more attention.

We hope you’ll enjoy this update and appreciate the improvements we've made. Thank you for your attention — there’s still a lot of exciting stuff ahead. Stay tuned!
